Distinctive Unit Insignia


Description/Blazon
In front of two scarlet shells in saltire above a gold scroll with the motto "FIRM AND FAITHFUL" in scarlet lettering, a gold fleur-de-lis. The insignia is 1 inch (2.54 cm) in height.

Symbolism
In the scarlet of the Field Artillery, the functions of the organization are represented by the crossed projectiles, the fleur-de-lis represents service in France during World War I.

Background
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 5 December 1942. It was rescinded/cancelled on 10 August 1959.
